The Nerves and Drive Behind Going It Alone: Why I’m Taking the Leap into Business Coaching

Right now, I’m standing at the edge of something exciting, nerve-wracking, and full of possibility. I’m embarking on a journey I’ve dreamed of for years—going it alone and launching my own business coaching venture, myexec. It’s a path filled with uncertainty, but one that is driven by a deep desire to make an impact on the leaders of today.

I’ve always known that starting a business wouldn’t be easy. There’s a lot that comes with stepping out from behind the safety of a corporate structure and venturing into something that is entirely my own. But despite the nerves that creep in, I’m determined to follow what I believe in, to bring my vision to life, and to help others unlock their potential along the way.

The Nerves of Starting Something New

The nerves are real, and anyone who has started a business will tell you the same. It’s an emotional rollercoaster. One minute, I’m bursting with excitement about what’s ahead, and the next, I’m questioning if I’ve made the right decision. There’s the financial risk, the fear of not finding enough clients, and the doubt of whether I can build something meaningful on my own.

But I’ve realised that nerves are part of the journey. They keep me on my toes, force me to stay sharp, and push me to go further than I ever thought I could. These moments of doubt are where the growth happens, and I’m learning to embrace them as I take each step forward.

Turning Nerves into Positives

When I feel the nerves setting in, I remind myself why I’m doing this. My driving force is the belief that values-driven leadership has the power to transform not just organisations, but the people within them. I’ve spent years leading teams, managing businesses, and navigating complex corporate environments, and I’ve seen firsthand the impact that great leadership can have.

What fuels me is the desire to take all of those experiences and use them to help other leaders. That’s what turns my nerves into excitement. I’m not just launching a business—I’m creating a platform where I can guide others to become the best versions of themselves as leaders.

Why I’m Choosing Business Coaching

After years of working in senior leadership roles, from CEO of The Focus Travel Partnership to Managing Director of Connections.Be, I’ve come to realise that my passion lies in helping others find clarity and confidence in their leadership. So many senior leaders feel the weight of external pressures, uncertain about how to lead effectively while staying true to their values. I know that feeling, and I want to help.

Business coaching gives me the opportunity to work closely with leaders, offering personalised strategies, support, and guidance that empower them to navigate their unique challenges. It’s about helping them see the bigger picture, sharpen their focus, and make decisions that align with their personal and professional goals.

The Drive to Make a Stand

Launching myexec isn’t just about striking out on my own; it’s about standing for something bigger. I’m committed to fostering integrity, resilience, and values-driven leadership in every client I work with. I believe that leaders have the potential to inspire and elevate the people around them, and I want to help them do that in a way that reflects their own core values.

The determination to make that stand is what drives me. It’s not just about business results; it’s about helping leaders become the kind of individuals who leave a lasting, positive impact on their teams and organisations.

Why I’m Following What I Believe In

I know the road ahead won’t be without its challenges, but I also know that following what I believe in is worth every risk. I’m committed to building something that not only reflects my passion for leadership but also creates real change for the clients I work with.

I’m taking the leap because I believe in the power of great leadership, and I believe that the journey I’m embarking on will help others discover their own potential. The path may not always be clear, but I’m ready to embrace it—nerves and all.
